Frequently Asked Questions

What is the difference between a traditional birth doula and a full-spectrum doula?

A traditional birth doula works with clients to provide non-medical support for birth. A full-spectrum doula provides that same level of support for any and all outcomes of pregnancy, i.e. birth, postpartum, miscarriage, abortion, and stillbirth.

How many clients do you have per month?

Because of the depth of relationship-building I do with my clients, I only take on 1-2 clients each month. This gives me the time to devote to each person individually for the duration of our time together.

How will hiring you affect my partner’s role during the birth?

A doula does not replace a partner, or any other support person you have on your team! I will be there to make sure that both of you have the resources you need at your disposal to have the best chance at having the birth you want. I encourage partners to be as involved in the prenatal process as possible so that by the time the birth happens, you are a team together and I am able to support you both.

Do you perform any medical procedures, like taking blood pressure or assessing the position of a baby?

No. A doula provides only non-medical support. I can be present at medical appointments with you for support if you'd like, but I do not provide any medical services myself.
